About the event
Water & Night
Cathy Hayward
The dead of night can evoke a fear of the unknown, but can also create a sense of wonder and bravery as you resist the temptation to return to the comfort of the couch.
Standing in the dead of night, whether it is in the cold dark depth of somewhere in Melbourne or in the pitch black darkness on an isloated coast, you will find a world of unexpected sounds each one pricking up the hair on your neck until you let down your defences and make friends with its nature and you welcome this landscape that is so alive.
The available light of the night is an unpredictable medium with a camera, but with time, light can create poetic patterns with water of stillness, aliveness and rhythmic energy.
