About the event
Fins & Feathers
Elisabeth Scott
Fins and Feathers is a memory trace and netting of my sensory
experience in the land and seascape of Gippsland. It strives to
capture the sensitivity of the flora and fauna specific to the area.
Each piece is an intimate study of survival and belonging in an
increasingly vulnerable environment. I document the native
plants alongside the birds and fish as a quiet archive of what we
stand to lose. It is an invitation to slow down, look closely, and
consider the marvel of it all.
“Let me always keep the company of those who are astonished
at the beauty of that which surrounds us.”
Biography
Elisabeth is a local Gippsland artist with a background in Fine
Art, holding both a Bachelor and Masters degree. Working
primarily in printmaking and Japanese collage techniques such
as chine collé with kitakata paper, she creates layered works
that merge traditional methods with contemporary sensitivity.
Inspired by endangered birds, fish and marine environments, her
formulations explore the textures, movement, and quiet
intricacies of the natural world.
