About the event
The Great Southern Summer Salon
This summer, Meeniyan Art Gallery celebrates the beauty of southern Victoria with a vibrant new group exhibition bringing together original works from 50 Victorian artists.
Featuring painting, ceramics, printmaking and photography, the exhibition explores the shifting moods of coast and country – from the tidal edges of Western Port Bay through to the rugged peaks and wild shores of Wilsons Promontory. Visitors can expect a rich mix of artistic responses: expansive seascapes and quiet rural vistas, intimate studies of flora and fauna, bold abstracts inspired by light and weather, and sculptural pieces that echo the textures of earth, sand and sea.
Together, these works highlight just how much creative inspiration can be found in this special corner of Victoria. Whether you know South Gippsland well or are discovering it for the first time, the exhibition offers fresh perspectives on the landscapes, townships and hidden places that make this region unique.
Running throughout December and January, this is the perfect time to plan a day trip or weekend escape: wander the gallery, meet local volunteers, explore Meeniyan’s shops and cafés, and immerse yourself in the coast-and-country stories told through art.
MAG is open everyday with the exception of Tuesdays. We are closed on Christmas day.
